Every year, ( disclaimer this hasn’t been consistent), I try as much as I can to do love related posts whenever we approach valentine’s day. Mostly these stories if not all are usually fiction related, but hey, who doesn’t fancy a love story even as a fairy tale.

Any way the basis of this, Is it just me( or allow me to speak for many) who, when valentine’s day approaches, we just pretend that it doesn’t concern us? Like its meant for certain people. And not for us. There’s a friend’s page I follow, she sells ladies wear..and this week she unleashed very beautiful stock, for valentine’s. Beautiful backless red dresses. I’d imagine myself in them looking very resplendent. And even before that thought could wander any further, I told myself, in my own words, that, “whoever buys these dresses will look very beautiful.”

I didn’t even stop to think that “whoever” might just be me. And there it was..me passing love or thoughts of love to someone else and least to myself. Why though? I thought. Probably that’s why ladies invented galentine’s day in place of valentine’s day, to celebrate with fellow ladies, give back love and self care to themselves. Having grown tired of probably waiting to experience love through other people and not themselves. I don’t know why , but maybe that could be it.

So today, let’s  try and change this. Acknowledging that Love concerns you.  That Love should concern you always . That Never was it written that a certain calibre of people have love only reserved for them. No. I believe that It’s meant for everyone. Your view of celebrating love maybe perhaps is different. Expecting to receive love where you don’t give love again feels abit absurd. Just like the usual adage, you can never pour from an empty cup.  You can never gift what you don’t have. And so forth. You need to feel love, or loved to express love. Just like faith, without actions it’s dead, I also tend to believe love has a way of showing up through actions beyond the butterflies.

Of importance is to acknowledge that love exists for everyone. It’s meant for everyone. It’s  meant to be celebrated either individually or couple wise. It’s just sometimes people get hard headed in receiving and accepting to be loved. Or choosing not to share love for fear of being rejected or disappointed or historic events perhaps. The issue is also in the waiting. Maybe what one just needs is to act.

Being open to receive and give love. Regardless of the nature of relationship. There would be those who say everyday is valentine’s day,  and they do not need to be bothered with the intricacies and mellows of just one day, let it be so then, through your actions and words that indeed every day is valentine’s day.

Love is a topic that many people would rather avoid but still deep down heavily desire. May it happen to you. May it happen to us. May it flourish in places where it blooms best. Enjoy today. Whether alone or with someone please enjoy.  And never take love for granted. Whatever you define as love, cherish it❤️💘.
