My two favorite quotes..
Before the year progresses any further.. We are still in the planning month of January. The month to plan and prepare for our many successes for the year. Why are we planning in January, first, it’s because truth be told, no one is spending very heftily now, in fact we are calculating and re calculating every expense incurred counting shilling by shilling. This is because we all believe that January has sixty days and we would like to ensure that the we have enough to last us in this longest month of the year. Secondly, we are planning in January because the month of January is the foundation month. We are setting our foundation for the year. You get your January right. You have gotten the rest of the months right. It’s also important to note that a good number of people are looking to change a few things about themselves too during this time.. Talk about the right start..
In line with that, I also thought of sharing my own experience regarding this change which could inspire one or two. Beginning with work life, I started my career journey as a microfinance officer some years back almost nine years ago. The role was very exciting and intriguing at the same time . I was getting to learn how people make their living through walking with them in their business growth and business expansion journeys. My role mostly involved giving them loans and watching them make the “best” of the moneys to grow themselves. You might have realized that best was in quotes because not all them did the best they could with the loans I disbursed for them. Having done that for close to three years, I felt very worn out, I became demotivated and weary because of the nature of that job.
I badly wanted a move from it and a change. A change to do something else or something new but I just didn’t know what or how. So on one random afternoon while doing a couple of errands in town, I met a good friend of mine who amidst our chit chats asking how is work and family, she noticed my shrugged body language. This she noted given by the responses I gave about my work, she was concerned about my demotivated pysche and lack of enthusiasm. She asked me, Sidi what’s up? and I just let it all out, I told her I am just tired. My job is wearing me out, like it’s getting the better part of me. I just need a change. The first thing she asked me was, are you applying for other jobs? And I told her. No. She then asked me, so how then do you expect to change from your current job to another if you are not applying for other jobs. She even went further to state. “You see, there are many employers out there looking for people but they will not find you if you are not looking for them.. Applying for work usually means that you would like to be seen, you would like to be found. They will receive your cv and see that you are interested in working with them and hence give you an opportunity to be interviewed”…
After that interaction I realized that clearly I hadn’t been doing anything about my then situation. I didn’t like where I was, yet I wasn’t doing anything about it. I would probably complain about it or whine about it to anyone who cared to listen until I met Anzazi Kiti that particular Saturday afternoon who made me decide how I was going to change.. I am sure she doesn’t remember this conversation…. But I have always applied this lesson in everything that I did from that day to seven years later today.. .
We all possess the power to change things. Power to even change the world. We can change our situations and circumstances if we put our hearts and minds to it. There’s usually a favorite quote I use on myself, which says..you are not a tree,, move. Whichever situation you could be in, not just work related but any that calls for you to make a change, or make a move just do it. You will be amazed at what that little step of change would do to your life.

I thought of sharing this today to encourage someone who is stuck in a place and they don’t know how to move.. You possess the power. If you don’t like something, or if you would like to change something you can always do something about it. And secondly to thank this Amazing soul, Anzazi Kiti who is the founder of Chibundiro.. For making me turn things around because after that discussion we had on that fateful Saturday afternoon, I went back to polish my cv and started applying for work. Two months into that, and I made my move to a new role in a new organization. And that has always been my mantra. To always do something about it if I didn’t like where I was..
Please find her amazing products on the link below on how you can purchase her natural spices that your foods need..and even recipes on how to use the spice Chibundiro.

Doing something about it. Is the action we take to turn things around for the better..
Hope this encourages someone somewhere to make the move or decision they have been holding back….its very early into the year. As we align our thoughts and goals for 2021, let’s all always remember that we can always do something about any situation.
Blessings.. #sensesnhumor
