Make hay while the sun shines

Do it today, do it now…

I have been thinking about this header for a while and each time I have a different body for a story with a few add ons here and there but all building up to a readable plot.

Make hay while the sun shines, an old popular phrase that we use quite often, if this was examinable, most would have underlined the words Hay and sun as they are presumed to be the key words and put more emphasis on them throughout the article, I on the other hand would have probably chosen the words Make and While as my keywords to build onto my story and here’s why…

Make is the act of doing something, or actualising an action at the presented opportunity, the difference between a dreamer and a doer is in the level of actioning that goes towards making a dream become a reality hence when you make, you stop being a dreamer and become a doer, not sure if this makes sense. On the other hand, while, describes time, the exact time when you actually get to action, the word sun would refer to conditions in which we act and the word hay would mean the exact action being done, in a snap our phrase has been broken down into definable words to make it somewhat clearer.

When the sun is shining that’s when good hay gets made it dries up completely and good for cow consumption and also consumption by other hay eating animals or even good for storage, unlike when it’s raining or humid the hay may rot because it didn’t dry out, we could have said that the sun is too hot and we shall do it later and one ends up forgetting (procrastinating) or say that the sun is not hot enough and when you try to do it later the weather conditions changes, does this even sound familiar, even with our day to day lives, we tend to achieve the most if we learn to take advantage of all the opportunities presented to us especially when we get to do them as and when they present themselves and the flip side of this happens too.

While researching about this article, I came across the phrase, “Procrastination is the thief of time” and it really made me look back to the things that I have never done because my word has always been I will do it in the future, in the future is when I will get to do it,, those are my favorite quotes every time my mind is battling with my self as to whether to action today, tomorrow or even never and most of the time, we procrastinate not because we are doing something better today, it could even be out of fear to try and fail.

“if I knew what I know today and with the energy and time I had then, and then here means my twenties I would have achieved tripple of what I have today” this could be true or untrue but fact still remains that at your youthful, that’s the best time to do things and things which are meaningful because you have the energy and time, I didnt say money, but energy and time because with energy and time you can make the most of everything you put your mind to and eventually make the money.

There’s nothing old school with money, if there’s an opportunity for you to make money and you choose to get wasted because that is what people who are young and have time and energy do, speaking to self too, if there’s an opportunity to make reconciliation treaties with any aggrieved, be it a relationship, a career related, do it because opportunities present themselves at times when you don’t even get to see them..and once you realize that, that opportunity will never present itself ever again all that might be left with you could be pure regret.

As you read through just think about all the Hays and Suns in your life that you never made or decided to procrastinate and whether you could go back and dig them out of your archives bring them out see if they can be achieved today, maybe today is when the sun is brightest the most and the hay will dry the most.
