Isn’t it exciting how when you start doing something you enjoy some how it happens to be one of the things you think about all day long, forget about writing a thesis honestly freestyle writing as a tool of expression is a good dossier for killing boredom. A comedian can spot you and easily create a joke out of you and the content would be spot on and every one would burst into a laughter, that’s what writing does too, anything and everything can be converted into readable material as long as you are word creative.

I passed by the stores to do a few mumy duties actually buying a snack for my son to carry to school, I know I should be making something healthy for him but Afew sugars won’t harm him. Anyway while at the cashier, she ran through my bill and before I could pay, she asked. “Uko na Cardi? I said no, and she proceeded with the billing procedure for non card holders. And this made the basis of this article. I asked myself is this normal in any supermarket within the world, like does an attendant in a store in Indonesia ask a shopper if they have a loyalty card?Or maybe it could be be a Kenyan thing since yours truly has never stepped out of Kenyan soil.

I think that Kenya is a very unique country and I believe foreigners may have a hard time finding their way within or maybe not because we are good people and we like helping people even when we are not asked

For starters I believe we are Meme lords and I doubt if there is any country that comes close, if we are at 100% I believe the 2nd best would follow at 50%.

Are there phrases you hear and make you realize that you are truly home I mean which supermarket attendant in this country irregardless of the store wouldn’t ask. Uko na Cardi? Think about that,

Moving on, Mpesa attendants, they see you walk desperately into their shop in readiness to withdraw the last few shillings left from your account and the first thing before the un answered greeting is the memorized phrase Uko na ID? I mean clearly I doubt if I would be walking to your store without it as I am aware of the minimum requirements to make a withdrawal .. This phrase makes you feel annoyed at times but also reassures you that you are indeed in your beloved country Kenya.

Moving on again, Online businesses. People want convenience in everything and of course the online business has taken a great shift within the country right from posting other people’s goods as your own or delivering what looks completely opposite from what was posted but the baddest of them all is, you liking a product and attempts to make enquires on pricing the next thing the seller tells you is INBOX. πŸ™„ why do we do this, what is so hidden in these prices that we always have to inbox for? Are we always unsure of what we are offering and hence refusal to publicly display prices, again that still reminds us that we are indeed in Kenya and that is how we online sellers trade.

What are some of the phrases that remind you of Kenya?

#usinleteemakasiriko #kaimatiyarohochafu #utajuahujui #wamlambez #hiikenyasihami#somanymorethaticantremembernow

But truly it is always a happy place being in Kenya despite all economic challenges we could be facing, being a Kenyan is the best thing that ever happened to me not sure about you though..
